Sometimes you have to try something different. Certainly creating a top flight Eagles Tribute Band that faithfully recreates the mid 70's incarnation of the band wasn't for the faint of heart. The thing was, I knew I could play and sing Timothy B Schmitt and Randy Meisner. The more Eagles bands I saw, the more I saw no one was filling that void. The harder part was finding the other pieces but after a great deal of time and effort, this band has become the gold standard for me in terms of the best and most unselfish people I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
Seeing the unmitigated joy on people's faces when we nail a 5-part harmony or particularly challenging piece makes it all worthwhile.
And for a guy whose name had become synonymous with the 7 string upside down bass and all the “prog” stuff, flipping the script where the vocals are the most important thing, I completely changed my playing style to fit the needs of the music and couldn't be happier to do it.
